Do UK dads not blog? Do they tweet?

Was skimming through the excellent top 100 UK parent blogs (note to self: try and get on it) earlier and the most obvious thing that struck me was the lack of dads on it. At a glance, I see one – Single Parent Dad.

So what’s the deal. Are we too busy lifting the toilet seat up to blog? Are they worried about what the wife would say? Or are we just more shy about this sort of thing…I’ve listed a few to the side here (though many of them mention their children and other items).

Thoughts – and links to interesting dad blogs – welcome.

There are actually a few top Dad blogs in the index – All that Comes With It by Dan Hughes, and Bringing up Charlie by Tim Atkinson are Dad blogs. I’d also recommend Papa et Piaf, which is written by a Dad, but not (yet) in the top 100. You might want to add those to your links?

Those are blogs focussed mainly on parenthood. It’s also important to consider those blogs that are written by parents about something else, but that sometimes reference the fact they are parents.

Yeah, that’s a good point Stuart. Budgie’s Blog (that’s in my links) is like that (and so is here if being honest). Parenting is a part of the blog, not the whole of the blog.

    Sally, thanks for that!

Dad bloggers often tend to diversify into blogging about other stuff too in my experience, and therefore can be a little disguised. We are lacking in the UK though, but to be honest mummy blogging is only just taken off really.

    Two more for your list:

    Life Begins: http://life-begins.blogspot.com/
    Dad who writes: http://dadwhowrites.wordpress.com/

Both of whome concentrate on parenthood quite intensively.

Thanks for those Dan (consider them added). As you say, we blog about other things as well. That’s why I’ve split my blog life into here (for popular culture, writing and parenting) and using http://www.contently-managed.com to talk about digital PR, communcations and media.
