Jonathan Ross/Russell Brand

Was what they said funny? Not to me, but others loved it.

Was what they said offensive? Certainly to many and definitely in poor taste for at least one lady.

Do I defend their right to be able to say it? Hell, yes.

That’s why it’s called free speech.

I have read the transcript since hearing all the hoo-haa about the show and I thought it was funny….I am a big fan of both Jonathan and Russell and think the whole thing has been blown up. The only thing offensive was Jonathan saying Russell had ***** his granddaughter, but they recovered well from that and it was very funny! I am gutted they have been suspended and I hope they will not be fired.

I think this whole thing is silly…they’re both comedians and thats what they do..there are so much bigger and more important things to worry about its sad to see what gets attention..The target audience were not offended..its just a bunch of whinny old gits with nothing better to do who are doing the complaining!! Get a life!!!

Out of proportion of course, and probably worth a slap on the wrist but opinion on this does seem to be based on whether or not people like the two. That aside, no matter how you spin it it was in incredibly bad taste and I’m sure the last thing anyone wants an image of is a member of their family on a swing (ahem)…..but it should be up to Mr Sachs to deal with, god forbid the tabloids have any greater handle on how to deal with such matters of ‘public outrage’…The Sun’ll have a campaign any minute! ๐Ÿ™‚

It certainly was tasteless, but comedy will always tread that line. It is never pleasant to be the butt of the joke, but as Billy Connolly once said, ‘When your knickers are down, thatโ€™s when you’re funny.’ Read more at opine-blog.com

This is being blown out of all proportion by the media, but that’s what they always do. Two weeks ago it was the Credit Crunch. Last week, the Downturn, this week it’s Brossgate. Next week they’ll find something else to champion/trash.

    Someone’s selling a T-shirt now that says “I back Brand and Ross” – http://www.force18.co.uk/i-back-brand-and-ross-tshirt-p-530.html

I wonder what the silent majority thinks?

People seem to think it is the oldies who are doing all the complaining. As an oldie myself I think this was in poor taste and certainly both deserve a slap on the wrist. Someone mentioned free speech but that ‘s not the issue it was an invasion of Andrew Sacs privacy.
The people I blame are the BBC for letting the programme go on air unedited .Neither Ross or Brand deserve the ridiculous press coverage this has received. They are great comedians and I do hope they will not be fired, I am an absolute fan of Johnathan Ross and it would be our loss if he were to go. To fire them would be totally OTT!!! I do believe some people are simply offended by how much Ross earns.
