How to Save What the Papers Say…

The Guardian is reporting that What the Papers Say is to be axed after 50 years as news has changed, which must be the ‘duh’ moment of the press release stating it.

ITV Productions say they are going to save it. If I was them, I’d save some money, find a sponsor and take it online. Do it as a video podcast. You could do a quick daily digest version and a more laconic weekly version. Add in comments about what the newspapers are saying online, what the TV news channels are saying and what the blogosphere is doing and you have a ready-made 20-30 minute programme.

You could even take it across the country – get people to do versions via their webcams or hook up a decent camera – and have a rolling selection of people to talk. Take it past the London media and make it more inclusive, reflecting the media across the country.

Simple.
